Now that the Nintendo Switch is out, I keep hearing that the Nintendo Switch performs so much better than the failed Wii U. Failed Wii U ?!? In my opinion the Wii U is everything but a Failure. In fact, there is no “great” or “failed” console, it’s the games that are running on it that matter, not the console itself. Sure there are no “Call of Duty’s” nor “FIFA’s”, and the system sold not as many units as a PS4 for example. Financially speaking the Wii U may have failed Nintendo’s Expectations, but surely not the Gamer’s Expectations.
Would The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild have been part of Wii U’s Launch line up, I bet that the Wii U would have sold more units. This game is a true “System-Seller”. Beside Zelda, there is not a single Game in the Switch’s launch line-up that had so much attention drawn to it.
My personal I Wii U list
I had (and still have) great moments of fun game-play on my Wii U, and would like to put my 2 cents on this discussion and list 15 Reasons why the Wii U is not a failure:
- Wii Backward compatibility
- Super Mario 3D World
- Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
- Best Version of Rayman Legends
- Mario Kart 8
- Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Bayonetta 2
- Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
- Super Mario Maker
- NES Remix 1+2
- Fast Racing Neo
- New Super Marios Bros. U
- The Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Yoshi’s Woolly World
There are plenty more reasons (Pikmin…), but these are just my personal favorites. What are yours? Please leave a feedback and share your personal Wii U Games.

I just wonder what would have happened if Super Mario Maker would have been a launch title.

I’m pretty sure the WiiU would have had the success of the Switch (which it really deserved)
